Friends of Grasslands
PWSS’s mandate is to work in partnership with the local community and Grasslands National Park of Canada to promote the conservation of native prairie landscapes, while inviting the exploration and appreciation of prairie culture and natural history. Every May to October, PWSS operates a museum, art gallery and gift store out of a 1927 brick schoolhouse in the village of Val Marie, in southwest Saskatchewan.
PWSS is an incorporated, registered charitable organization founded in October 1996 by a group of dedicated volunteers in the village of Val Marie, in Southwest Saskatchewan. PWSS is managed by a board of six directors, along with a non-voting representative from Grasslands National park. It is a member of Canadian Parks Partnerships and the Museum Association of Saskatchewan.
PWSS takes great pride in publishing the only Field Guide to Grasslands National Park in 2000, and providing an important interpretive service to the many visitors to this unique landscape.
